John,

I really don't mean to be harsh in what I am about to say, truly I don't so please don't take it that way.

I can appreciate your frustration with not having the exact how to spelled out in our emails. Not to sound brash, however there are many out in internet land that don't have the basics down pat as to where to start looking or getting the right tools in place.

People who get an idea that marketing on the internet is an easy thing to do, on one hand they are correct it is easy, however it takes study just like you had to learn robotics and apprentice as an electrician when you started out.

Both Charles and me have tried to guide folks in the proper direction to go to start their own business and finally make things work for themselves.

We have recommended many tools to use that are very user friendly and have great tutorials with them.

There are certain "laws" or theories that when put in to action, certain results will occur. Just like if you adjust the air pressure or hydraulic pressure on a robotic welding machine.

I really do not have an answer for you other than to get with the creators of the software or program and ask for some "hands on" mentoring or guidance.

Without taking an immense time away from our jobs, it would be very difficult to teach the basics or hosting or setting up a web site or using an autoresponder etc.

I do know that every single one of the products we have offered to folks comes with either videos or manuals that make putting those tools to use very simple indeed.

Thanks for all of your input, we really do appreciate it.

Hi Charles,

First off, your link to this page didn't work for some reason. It took me to a search engine page, even though when I finally got here by playing with the code, the addresses appear to be the same. Strange! On the other hand, I commend you for sending out very useful information in your emails, rather than just sending out sales pitches all the time!

Anyway, on suggestions for your training: don't tell the students "what" they should do....tell them "how" to do it. We have been involved with marketing for over eight years now, and the thing that I see left out of nearly all training and information products is the technical aspect of how to actually DO the tasks. For instance, no one comes right out and TELLS you how to actually get your information products uploaded to the server so that a customer can download them. We spent literally months of part-time trial and error before we discovered that some server control panels (C-panel and Plesk) have a form on the control panel where you can just enter the file name, and it will do it for you. Until we discovered that, we waded through all kinds of technical jargon that we didn't understand, and most of which was not relevant to what we were working with.

As with most things on computers, instructions seem to be written by gurus who have done it all their lives, and they seem to think that just because they know it, the rest of us are supposed to be mind readers. I am a master electrician and robotics technician by trade, and have been working with computers of one kind or another since 1986, have designed custom machines and controls, written the instruction manuals for many of those machines, and even I can't figure some of this stuff out without researching it! That can take a lot of time, and lead to a lot of dead ends and useless information.

We would like to see the over-all methods of teaching change for the better by including more of the "how" to do it, and not just the "what" to do. We know that this would help many more people and save them a lot of time and frustration spent on research! After eight years, we have come to the realization that people need more in the way of technical tips and tricks, and that's why we are moving in that direction with our own site. There's too many newbies that get frustrated with technical issues, give up and never get off the ground with their marketing, and it shouldn't be that way. Let's end that trend.

David,

I am certain that I speak for Charles when I say of course you can reprint this article, just make sure that you reference our blog when you do. It is a lot easier just to send someone to the main link:

http://ckirkland.com

That way they can scroll through all of the posts. I hope this helps you in your quest to make more money online. Or you can just reference the post directly at:
